Competition proposal for a lightweight leisure dwelling for 6 persons organised by RND asbl

Wallonia, Belgium

DESCRIPTION

The proposed unit is adaptable on water or on stilts. On water, the structure is fixed on floats held by horizontal braces. On stilts, the proposal offers the possibility to colonize wetlands and creek banks with minimum impact on the ground. The dodecagonal plan seamlessly and organically rises and is designed as a sculpture that punctuates the landscape. In  order to achieve soft integration in nature, the volume is completely cladded with shingles. Small windows, all identical, multiply viewpoints. The landscape is framed on 360 degres but the windows narrowness preserves the intimacy of the occupants. The ground floor is fully accessible to mobility-impaired persons. The external layout includes pontoons, ramps and terraces that invite to walks and allow access to all.
