Blue Clay Country Spa in Latva
PROGRAM
Proposal for the conception of a single family Spa whose specificity is the use of Blue Clay.
LOCATION
Kurzeme, Latva
DESCRIPTION
The project stretches along an east-west axis overhanging the existing pond. The linear plan benefits from solar gain through the fully glazed south facade. While the north wall punctuated with scattered small windows is nearly blind.
The access occurs with a pedestrian bridge that cuts the existing bank in a way that frames the view to the entrance building and keeps the view to the pond hidden.
The dynamic of the project is revealed in volumes through the asymmetrical roofs slopes. The inclined plans create irregular shapes that thanks to a harmonious disorder seem to merge quiet naturally into the landscape.
The spa specificity is materialized through the internal and outdoor coatings colour. Blue refers also to infinity and dreams. Plus as it reflects more light than it absorbs, blue gives a fresh effect to the building which is ideal in regards to its function. Furthermore as it is a rare colour in the landscape as in the built environment, it gives a strong image that can easily be recognisable and associated to the Spa.
Simultaneously to a bioclimatic conception, the project seeks also to approach water and energy autonomy. To this end, several strategies are put in place such as electricity production, site water purification and food production.
